Chopam Privacy Policy — Customer

What Chopam does with your information when you buy food and farm produce on our marketplace.

Last updated: October 2026

1. Who We Are

Chopam is a Nigerian farm-to-table marketplace. We connect customers with local vendors and farms, and with independent riders who deliver the order to your door. We are the data controller for the account, payment and delivery information described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account details you give us: full name, email address, phone number, delivery address and area/location.

Order information: the products you buy, quantities, prices, your order history, reviews and support messages.

Payment information: wallet top-ups, wallet balance, bank-transfer confirmations, escrow status and transaction references. Full card or bank credentials are handled by our payment partners and are never stored by Chopam.

Delivery information: the delivery address and, when you share it, your map coordinates, plus the delivery OTP, delivery time and proof photo attached to the completed order.

Device and usage information: the app version you are running, connection type and basic diagnostics used to keep the marketplace working on low-bandwidth networks.

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and secure your account, and to approve your registration.

To take, hold and settle your order — including assigning a rider, tracking the delivery and releasing escrow once you confirm you received your food.

To process wallet, card, Naira Pay and bank-transfer payments, and to handle refunds or disputes.

To send you service messages about your orders, and — only if you keep notification popups switched on — promotional messages about deals on Chopam.

To detect fraud and abuse, to keep our records accurate, and to meet accounting and regulatory obligations.

4. Location & Delivery Data

If you share your delivery location, the coordinates are passed to the rider assigned to your order so they can find you. Live tracking ends when the order is marked delivered.

We do not track customer location in the background while you are simply browsing or shopping.

5. Who Sees Your Details

Vendors and farmers see only what is needed to prepare your order: your name, phone number, order items and delivery area.

Riders see your name, phone number, delivery address and coordinates for the order they are delivering.

Our staff and administrators can access order and account records when needed for support, approvals, refunds or dispute resolution.

We do not sell your personal data. Sponsored listings inside Chopam are labelled, and they are shown without using your personal details. Advertising from Google appears only on the desktop web version, and only if you accept advertising cookies — what that involves is set out in section 8 and in the Cookie Policy.

6. Data Retention

We keep your account and order information for as long as your account is active. Order, wallet and payment records are kept afterwards where accounting, tax or dispute rules require it.

If you delete your account, we remove your profile and personal details and close your wallet; retained financial records are limited to what we are legally required to keep.

7. Your Rights

You can view and correct your details from your Profile page at any time.

You can switch notification popups off, ask us for a copy of your data, or delete your account from your Profile page.

Where the law allows us to refuse or delay a request (for example, where records must be kept for tax or an active dispute), we will explain why.

8. Cookies & App Storage

Chopam uses the storage required to keep you signed in, remember your cart, language and theme, remember your cookie choice, and keep the app working offline. We do not use your account details to build advertising profiles about you.

On the desktop web version we also show advertising through Google AdSense. Those ads may use Google's own cookies and device identifiers, and they are only served if you accept advertising cookies. You can accept or refuse them in the banner the first time you use the app, and change your mind at any time from Cookie settings in the footer or on your Profile page. Your name, phone number, delivery address and orders are never passed to Google for advertising.

9. Security

Your data travels over encrypted connections and is stored on access-controlled servers. Administrators and staff only see personal data when their role requires it. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password and OTP codes private and tell support immediately if you suspect your account has been used by someone else.

10. The Law We Follow, and Your Data-Protection Rights

We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 and the guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

We rely on these lawful bases: performance of a contract (creating your account, taking, delivering and settling orders, holding and paying money, and supporting you), your consent (promotional messages, and the optional advertising cookies described in section 8), legal obligation (accounting, tax and the verification records we must keep) and our legitimate interests (keeping the marketplace secure, preventing fraud and abuse, and fixing faults).

You may ask to see a copy of your data, have it corrected, have it deleted, restrict or object to how it is used, withdraw consent at any time, and receive your data in a portable form. Use your Profile page, Help & Support, or the contact details in section 13.

We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with how we handled your request, or with how we handle your data, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng). A consumer complaint can also be taken to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

11. Who Processes Data For Us, and Where

We share data only with the service providers that make Chopam work: the licensed payment providers that process wallet funding, card, transfer and payout transactions; the banks and payment partners that settle seller and rider earnings; cloud hosting, storage and email-delivery providers; the map and location services used for delivery tracking; and, on the desktop web version only, Google for advertising (see the Cookie Policy).

They may process the data only for the purpose we engaged them for, under contract, and they must protect it.

Some providers host data on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens we transfer it in line with NDPC rules and put contractual safeguards in place. We never sell personal data.

We may also have to share data with law enforcement, a regulator or a court where the law requires it, and we will say so unless we are legally prevented from doing so.

12. Children

Chopam accounts are for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child, and we do not market or advertise to children.

If we learn that a child's data was provided without verifiable consent from a parent or guardian, we delete it. A parent or guardian can ask us to do this using the contact details in section 13.

13. Changes & Contact

Chopam is operated in Nigeria (No D7, Green Roof Plaza, Opposite Corn Oil Fuel Station, Area 3, Abuja). Questions about this policy, or any request about your data, can be sent to Chopam@inspireiq.com.ng or raised from the Help & Support screen inside the app. We reply to data-protection requests within 30 days.

If we make a material change to this policy we will notify you in the app and, where the law requires it, ask you to accept the updated document before you continue using Chopam.

By approving this document you confirm that you have read and accepted the Chopam Privacy Policy and confirm that your registration is complete.
