There is a difference between wanting soup and actually getting it: buying the ingredients, washing the leaves, blending the pepper, watching the pot for two hours, and then hoping the meat is soft enough. Chopam takes that part off your hands. You choose the soup, it is cooked fresh, and a rider brings it to your door.
Any Nigerian soup, from any part of the country
Our soup kitchen covers the pots Nigerians actually ask for, not a shortened "African food" menu:
- Banga soup (ofe akwu) — palm nut soup with catfish, dried fish and scent leaves.
- Ngwo-ngwo (ngwobi) cow foot soup — peppery and cocoyam-thickened, cooked until the foot is soft.
- Isi ewu — spiced goat head with utazi leaves, onion and pepper.
- Abacha (African salad) — shredded cassava with ugba, garden egg leaves and pomno.
- Oha soup — tender oha leaves in a cocoyam-thickened broth.
- Egusi, ogbono, okro, bitter leaf and white soup (nsala) — the everyday pots.
- Afang and edikang ikong — waterleaf, periwinkle and assorted meat.
- Efo riro, ewedu, gbegiri and ofada (ayamase) stew — the Yoruba classics.
- Pepper soup — catfish, goat meat, chicken or assorted meat.
- Miyan kuka, miyan taushe and miyan zogale — soups from the north.
See the full soup and stew menu for a description of every pot.
How to order soup on Chopam
- Pick your soup. Search for it in the shop, or send the name to our WhatsApp line if you cannot find it.
- Say how you like it. More pepper, no crayfish, extra pomno, soft cow foot, less palm oil — add it as a note on the order.
- Add the swallow. Pounded yam, eba, semo, amala, fufu or tuwo on the same order.
- Pay your way. Chopam wallet, bank transfer, InspireMe Pay, or cash on delivery where it is enabled for your area.
- Confirm the delivery. The rider completes the order with the delivery code on your order, and your money only leaves escrow then.
What it costs
You pay for the pot and for the delivery. The delivery fee is worked out from the value of your order and the distance to your address, and it is shown in full before you pay. Each soup carries its own price on its product page, so nothing changes at the door.
Feeding a crowd?
Party pots are available for weddings, birthdays, naming ceremonies, church programmes and office lunches — banga, egusi, efo riro, ofada stew, jollof rice and peppered proteins, cooked in bulk and delivered to the venue.
Order your pot
Soup should not be a whole afternoon of work. Browse the soup menu or start shopping in the Chopam marketplace — order anything food and we deliver it to you.
